Back up Ipod for IOS 5…
October 20th, 2013
Question is, can I back it up onto my Laptop? I right clicked onto it via Itunes and clicked back up, which it done but has that backed up all my music, videos etc.? It done it in about 10 mins, which just seems to quick to back up 21gb when on my main PC it said it could take an hour
It still says when i click update ‘Updating to IOS 5 will delete all the apps and media….To preserve your content, apply this update on the computer you sync your apps, music, videos and photos.’
I really don’t want to lose anything so help would be appreciated
Who said that it will backup 21GB?
This is very nice read about iDevice backup and iTunes (take your time to read it)

Apps (IPA files), Music, Video, Pictures will stay in computer (iTunes)… Also, iCloud and iTunes can back up most data on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Backed-up information includes purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files synced from your computer aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
no it will only back up your settings, messages, contacts, …
i think you have to synchronise it with the library afterwards also to get your music & stuff back

It came up with a message saying it required 21gb HD space to back up my stuff, I’ve used 21gb on my Ipod so I’m guessing it’s doing everything? But I didn’t have 21gb free on that PC to back it up with.
Sgt – I don’t have any of the music on my Laptop to Sync it all back onto it. I’m guessing the only way I can do this is to do it through my PC and try and free up 21gb
Edit: Just reading that link wo_Ot, I’m not sure if I’ve read it wrong but is it saying I can’t back up my music?

You read it wrong..
1. It will only backup purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. This means it will not backup 21 GB of content on your iDevice…
2. Music WILL STAY in iTunes (iTunes Library)
Thing is though mate, I don’t have any of the music in my Itunes on my laptop, it’s all on my main PC which is full up. So I take it it will delete all my music and I’ll have to put it all back on manually?

In that case it will…
To copy music of iPod Touch you can use CopyTrans…
Top man!
Do you mind if I give you a shout if I get stuck at all?
