Asus keyboard backlight won’t work

August 6th, 2016

Hello
Recently I sent in my laptop for repair. Since then the backlight stopped working. I sent it back because my keyboard also didn’t work… Now, I got back te laptop today with a new motherboard AND a new keyboard but still my back-light isn’t working !
I installed all drivers at hand and tried to remove and put back the ribbon cable of the back-light to no avail.
Any suggestions left ?
Thanks in advance !
ps: After 2 repair request I don’t want to sent it back unless it really is the ONLY option left

Get into the support>downloads section on ASUS website and pick your model. Download the ATKACPI driver (Under Utilities), Install and reboot, Then use the proper function
keys to increase or decrease the backlight level (Should be FN+F4 for increasing, And FN+F3 for decreasing!)
Good luck.

What’s the laptop model? Have you downloaded the backlight driver after receiving your new laptop? Is Asus Illuminate installed?
When the AI Light Sensor is OFF,
You can press FN+F3 ,the KB LED will be dim light until Off ;FN+F4,the KB LED will be ON
If not, check your power settings, make sure it is not in power saving mode

Done it, multiple times… also removed it from device manager and renstalled it, still no succes.
I did notice a program that comes with ATK (ATKBLCtrl) should be able to regulate my backlight but even with the utility I can’t change the setting (see attached picture).

I have a n550lf (simular to a n550jv).
There is no “backlight driver” available separately; only a keyboard driver.
And I don’t have an AI light sensor so that will not be it.
Also FN+F4 or FN+F3 don’t do anything…
Still, thanks for the efford you guys !

It could be BIOS settings related, See if there’s any settings for backlight!
If there isn’t (Or it’s already enabled) then try updating it to the latest version (Obtain it from ASUS website)
If you’re still not having any luck, You could try reinstalling the OS, Or asking on their official forum:
