Are you anonymous when downloading?

I am on another site and recently they have started enouraging their users to be anonymous when downloading. I was wondering how many people do that? Honestly I have downloaded so much stuff, I am wondering if I am too late to even bother with hiding myself…

I’ve been downloading stuff since day one with my own IP, torrents and filehosts. Never received single notification from my ISP. Nor have my countrymen, guess it depends in which country you live in, eh?

in my country they don’t care about what i download and it is a good thing because if they try to care and do something it would most likely crash the internet industry and the economy.

– is right, don’t leave them any more clues than is reasonably expected.
By that I mean – the hosts have your details, UL knows what I’ve downloaded, I;m sure a paid judge would sign a warrant to have them forced to disclose it. I can’t change that.
So I don’t fuss over it.
What i do fuss over are the little breadcrumbs that might start to interest “them” long enough for them to pay the judge for the warrant – no crumbs = no interest.
Just out of interest – I also think that being anal over anonymity might be counter-productive — we all have a “net presence”. If you’re in the bell curve of the average net presence then you don’t attract attention. Being one the extreme low end might be just as bad as being on the extreme high end (of “net presence”) — going to extreme to “not be seen” is as attracting as “being seen a lot”.

The only time I am anonymous for downloads or anything else is when I visit a site my ISP has banned and I have to use ZenMate to get access.

Assuming you don’t do torrents and you are only downloading and not uploading then you maybe not be anonymous but you are irrelevant. None will bother with you so you have almost nothing to worry.
