Anyone with a 2600K/2700K–OC settings?

September 5th, 2013

So at the moment, I have an i7 950 at 4.25GHz cooled by a Prolinatech Megahalems Rev.B + 2x 120mm Ultrakazes in push/pull. My room temp is around 70’F, idle CPU temps are at 40’C, load around 80’C.
I’m wondering what sort of OC I should be expecting out of my 2700K when it gets here? I’ve done some reading, and it seems like 4.6-4.8GHz is within reason, but I’m looking for personal experience…any input is appreciated.

I have yet to touch a 2700K, but I know the 2600K easily goes to 4.5.
And this is 3rd party, but one of my friends good friend just got one,
and apparently he is running at 5.0 GHz with Noctua NH-D14 under 1.4V.

4.8GHz is easy. 4.7 is pretty much the minimum. 5GHz is easy as well but the voltage curve spikes beyond 4.8GHz (for most chips) so the trade-offs aren’t really worth the 200MHz increase. 48 multi and CPU voltage are the only two things you’ll need to change. The rest on auto works fine for the majority of motherboards out there.
I’ve overclocked around three 2500Ks and a 2600K all of them to at least 4.8GHz with less than 5 minutes of work.
