Anybody Know Anything About CB Radio’s?

August 4th, 2016

I tried to join the CB Radio Forum but they aren’t taking new Registrations
I can hear people but either they ignore me or they can’t hear me
My Mic works, and when I press the button it goes from RX to TX…

Answer #1
Are you sure it goes to TX? That means you’re transmitting. Maybe you need more power, a bigger transmitter/antenna?
Answer #2
Yeah it goes to TX, I have this Antenna:
Type: Base spring loaded 1/4 wave mobile
Frequencey: 27-28 MHz
Length: 158cm
VSWR: 1.5:1 or better
Power: 1000 watts

I have just read about this, I have a Magmount but it’s in my loft, it’s just connected to my CB, I didn’t know about earthing it lol oops =/
How should I earth it? There is no earthing point on the mount, or will it earth if I stick it to something metal?
Answer #5
I use to be an enthusiast when I was younger..
Buy a clamp and run a thick copper wire from the Mast
and run it to a Metal Object thats connected (on building) in the ground..
Eg; water taps are great
Answer #6
Yeah I’ll do it from te water pipes, what part of the antenna? Does it matter?
Answer #7
it can not go on the mast (metal part) of the antenna . it will ground it out. almost impossible to get a proper ground with a magnetic mount. if you swr is off your receive and transmit will be bad. it is also bad for your radio to talk with high swr. find a cb shop in your area and have them set your swr.
