5.1 home theatre. rear speakers arent working
January 23rd, 2020
The rear two speakers arent working. I do the tone test and i hear the tone from all of the speakers except the back two, but if I listen closely I can here them hissing.
There is no break in the wires or anything and I’ve tried turning the gain up on the rear speakers.
Help please
I’m not sure if your receiver has a symbol or anything but on mine it has a diagram of the 7 speakers in the room and the ones that are lit up are in use. So on traditional movies without surround sound it only shows R, C, L….Meaning only the front three are in use.
but…on digital stuff with surround sound it has a blue light that says “decoding under it” and it shows R, C, L, BR, BC, BL, S
I have BWs…
1 Middle
2 rear
2 fronts 2 Basses in the front a medium size one and a large one
1 Bass in the back middle.
some times when just watching TV it will go to the front left speaker only for a bit then jump back to the orignal way I think the hissing noise is just the power running through the speakers cause mine do that. I dont understand why it would do that…
Have you check the fusses in the HK receiver oh we have a Rotel receiver for dvd player cable and iPhone and a HK that was the primary before the Rotel. that had radio etc. and its messed up when you turn it up the nob makes the volume go up really high or low if you barely move it.
I had the setting on Pro Logic when using the test tone, which means that all of the speakers in the 5.1 are supposed to have a test tone running through them. The point I made of the slight hissing in the back two speakers during the test tone was that… it means that there is power going through those speakers for sure, I’m just not sure why there is no tone ..
If the speakers are the same size, try to change the front or the side ones with the back speakers… This way you could afirm the rear speakers are working fine…
If so, could be a problem in the rear output from your receiver… Is it new? Did you see it working properly before? Is a 5.1 system?
Another thing, some models have the option to select the type of surround… Something like “Side Surround” or “Back Surround”…
