2.53 or 2.8 Ghz Macbook Pro?
January 23rd, 2020
Going to get one of these awesome computers in the next month as a Birthday present + Christmas + whatever.
So far I’m typing this on my 5 year old Sony Vaio, which I got 5 years ago when Pentium 4 just came out. Cost me around $3000 equivalent in USD. I am now looking for a new computer and have decided to get a Macbook Pro (since same size as Macbook).
One thing that’s stopping me from deciding is whether I should:
Get 2.53 Ghz Processor with 128GB SSD
Or
Get a 2.8 Ghz Processor with 320GB 7200 RPM.
I’ve decided to get a Mac since I loved OS X while using it at school, and would like a change (as well as Apple being, you know, ultra cool).
Would having a 2.8 Ghz processor be better in terms of the laptop being future proof? I am considering to use the computer for about another 4-5 years… Would it be worth the investment?
The 300MHz will mean something, but it won’t mean that much. If you have the money get the 2.8GHz Macbook.
If you’re buying for this notebook for using it in the future the better the specs the better it will serve you.
To me, it’s worth the money granted you have the money to begin with.
Would it really be worth it? Or is it more of a ‘you feel more better about it if you get it’ kind of thing? For the Mac users: Does OS X even need to use such a fast processor anyway?
It’s probably not worth it, but when you’re buying a system that will have to last 4-5 years you want to be looking at performance and not bang for the buck.
Snow Leopard (can’t spell >.<) which comes out next year uses Multi-Core processors more efficiently, but yea to be future proof bigger would be better. Also, SSD drives are suprisingly disappointing considering how much they cost. But they are silent. It just depends really, quieter with less space or more powerful when it comes to processing (video encoding etc)?
