Copying media to a DVD?

Hi all, I was just wondering if, in order to free up HDD space, there was a way I could copy videos & music (say 4.7GB’s worth) to a blank DVD-r but not actually burn them so I could just insert the DVD and watch or listen to them whenever I want?
If this isn’t possible, would I be able to burn the movies and music to a blank DVD-r using Media Player or something and just insert the DVD to watch or listen to them whenever I want? And would it be easy / possible to copy them back onto my computer whenever I wanted?

Of course it’s possible. Grab Nero or a similar program, select to burn a Data DVD and just burn all of the files onto the DVD. Burn it and when you insert it it into the PC you’ll be able to play the stuff on there. Good luck mate^^

Do you know a “similar program”? I tried Nero before but me / my computer didn’t seem to get along with it… would VSO Copy To DVD work?
Do you think looking at this topic, I could just click “data” and it’d do the same job as Nero?

it should. or try imgburm(free). Or search google for alternatives to nero. i think wikipedia has a page on it.

Here’s the alternative to Nero page if anyone wants it, I think I’ll just try Copy to DVD for now
