I stopped gaming 4 years ago. Now Im working and I really wanna start my gaming again.
I lost track of what processors and graphic cards are ebing used now, i see a lot of stuff, but i need somehting that works.
As far as I know its the graphic card that plays the most part to play the games.
Im plannig on a itel i5-2140 2.3 with 2.90(turboboost), and the regarding Nvidia
525 M 1gb or 540M 2gb…

and does it really make a difference to put in a 2gb? will it really use the resources of the whole 2GB?
Please help me out people, You all should be playing the latest games now, And i wanna join, Help me out here, If what i suggested previously are waste i dont mind, tell me what should i have in my new laptop to play all the powerful games available in market now?
Thank you all soo much…waiting for your response.

Get an ASUS ROG.

Answer #2
what’s so complicated ?
you need bad ass cpuI5 ,I7 ,amd phenom <
Tough ass VGA ati nvidia -no intel
4+GB of ram & ssd but not necessarily
Now make sure you buy an 8 ch lap so you can get that surround out(or get an usb audio card) & not forget to buy a lap whit no oS installed so you don’t have to pay for win ~love~ ..get it from w-bb.
Answer #3
If games are the main intention then a laptop is not the way to go.
You should look to buying a desktop PC.

its in English.. what part don’t you understand?
laptop or gaming. choose ONLY one really. There are no great gaming laptops.
What there is offers nowhere near the game performance of a desktop even though it will likely cost twice as much for a lappy.
like I said. if the intention is a games machine a laptop is the wrong way to go.
Answer #6
Honestly, don’t get a laptop for gaming. I bought an alienware m14x laptop and it will struggle with games like bf3 due to driver issues. If your gonna get into gaming again,its either a super expensive laptop or a custom built desktop.
Answer #7
@metroid and jock
Thank you for the review guys, But i travel, i most of the times stay in hotels, so basically no home, just a bag of luggage and my laptop, i used to have a hardcare desktop and i AGREE nothing will ever beat a desktop…But now as i have no option i need a laptop and i soo much wanna start playing.
I will keep in mind the issues with alienware m14x that was one of my options though, now i crss it out..thanks guys

@Pierre_Valois
Well the complication comes where i dont wanna carry 2 laptops all the time with me, so i wanna choose one where i can use for office n games.
What i came up was a i5 processor with around 2.5 ghz and turboboost, I was not able to choose on the Nvidia cards, some say even if i take a 2GB–the machine will never use the whole of that not even the 1GB, so which is the best graphic card??should i go for an
NVIDIA 525M 1GB or NVIDIA 540M 2GB.???
And do they really sell laptops without OS in US??? doubt it though…Cos i have my copy of windows XP from W-BB..and i love it…

If you go through Dell small business and say you are freelance or something you should get a good deal.
Answer #11
If you get a laptop for gaming. You’ll find that they overheat very easily just sitting on a desk. Which in turn will cause the lifetime of it to go down. The GPU will fail faster, the CPU will fail faster.. Basically a gaming laptop is just an utter failure.
The one company I’ve noticed who does a very good job and I’ve used them in the past for laptop would be Falcon Northwest. They’ve been making custom gaming PC’s since early 1990.. They make customized Gaming Laptops and their reliability is extremely good.. 40x better then that alienware dell crap..

No, real gamers use desktops, sorry. There is the whole issue of limited power and space… =(
I know a couple of people that have one, and if you must game on a laptop, it gets the job done.

suggest me a good one..cos i see lots of numbers on that Nvidia 465, 480, 525, 540, 560, 580, what do they mean?
Add an useful, elaborate and on-topic comment next time.
Answer #18
Amd graphics for mobile are currently cooler and better than nvidia.
The nvidia numbers mean the model nos.
Go for a 540m atleast otherwise the graphics card will struggle at 720p even
Answer #19

Answer #22
Sony Vaio VPCEC3M1E/BJ

This laptop is so leet, it has 4 GB ram, Radeon HD 5650 and dual core processor 2,6 GHZ plus boost.
Its damn cheap by now, i only paid 700 euro, and Rage runs like a charm, no lag, no texture loading. Also modern warfare 2 and all the other games on high settings, not all at best settings and AA tho.
Best cheap gaming laptop in my eyes.
Answer #23
@spaceplefka
Thanks for the review on it, i dont see that laptop being sold here…Are you from germany?
Answer #24
In my opinion NONE. You can buy for the money an really decent desktop pc which is going to be good for the next 2 3 years of newest gaming. You can also easy upgrade it nd get some serious cooling system.
Answer #25
@ sundeep
Yes I am, how did you know?
If you can get your hands on it, buy it. I would have never thought being able to play Rage.
First I thought i try games from 2006 or 2007 since laptops are always much much weaker than normal pcs.
Now i think i just have to live with no AA (many games i can activate but i do not see difference anyway), less physics and lights.
Resolution is up to 1600×900 but for intense games i can run 1280×768 with no lag

Btw how do i change that that resolution is shown fullscreen.
Some games show it fullscreen but most games show it with black area left and right side.
Answer #26
@balkanno
I agree with you mate, nothing beats a desktop..NOTHINGGG…But as i said..i travel cant carry a PC right…
@Spaceplefka
Well , This laptop is available mostly in Germany and Greece, Made a wild guess though
I will check out if i can get it, sure sounds great. Hopefully i can get a good one…I narrowed on to everything except the Graphic cards…
That Nvidia has damn soo many numbers donno which one works… 335M, 525M, 540M, 555M, 550M, 560M, 580M..1Gb, 2Gb.. GDDR5 ready..Noclue ..lost here compeltely
Answer #27
I do not know,
Check for hd 5650 equivalent, could be like that 560 nvidia card.
If its as good or slightly better than HD 5650 you can be very happy. AA takes much performance, also light effects and physics i guess, no need for that in my eyes. You will be able to play all games, that is important. Desktop pc is better, but you need that because of bigger screen, just compare laptop to my laptop, if its better its a perfect one, nothing to complain about. I do not know where you live, but maybe someone in your country imports or someone sells a used one.
Answer #28
Im in US now, to import i need to pay double the price to customs…So better i will find one with these configs and Im thinking of dell XPS though
Answer #29
I can not give advice on other laptops, everything would be a lie…but i wonder why they dont sell my laptop in US? Its taken off market here, after two or three years, got too old, maybe its the same for US?
Answer #30
Cyberpower PC is cheap and best mate .alien ware and others are overpriced

Totally agree with this.
Also, you should look at Alienware. I know it is an obvious choice, but it is an obvious choice for a reason.
Answer #36
Guys, no one said anything about the config???is it good?
Answer #37
Yeh it’s nice, but it’s big for a laptop.
Might be a pain in the ass to carry it around.
Answer #38
Thanks jock..well i will try to carry it
Answer #39
Looks really nice.
The graphics card is better than HD 5650??
GTA 4 needs a lot of graphics card memory and 3 GB is great. Just make sure the card is at least as fast as HD 5650.
I changed settings in catalyst to improve visuals and sometimes notice lil lag now, but its ok.

For the ram..
8 GB is great, but honestly i dont think you need that much.
I checked when i was running games and i never used 3 GB.
I think you can not make use out of 8 GB for a game. Well, maybe you, depends on graphics card i guess, but for me i dont see that.
Answer #40
Spaceplefka Sure will keep that in mind….
wie geht es dir eigentlich?
Answer #41
@ sundeep55 – those specs seem OK, although I don’t do any gaming (my kids do though and have similar to the above XPs 17)
The XPS 17 is a bit on the heavy side, but if you can put up with that it’s gonna be fine.
All the people hammering on about Alienware – Dell bought them out years back and now they are just overpriced sh*te.
A good tip though – buy direct from Dell via phone if you have the cash in your bank, you can haggle the price down, and when you get the lowest cash price, then haggle upgraded parts for the same price, you usually get freebies like rucksacks and extras thrown in. I’ve done this many a time. They would rather make a sale with £1 profit than no sale at all.
Answer #42
Hah you speak German, how come?
I am fine, thanks.
How are you?
I keep it in English, they got strict rules here
Answer #43
@Spaceplefka Im fine thank you and how are things over there the nvidia 555 is greater than 5650, so it should be fine.
@Gilly
Thank you for the advice.
Are you from UK? Well when im in India its like that, i can bargain, here you go to dell or call them, whatever it is,, there is no question of bargain in US..thats too bad. i hate it.
I’ve given up on games long time ago..been more than 4 years..but i always wanna start back…
But still will give it a try. the above config i mentioned costs around $1200…Is that worth?
Thanks for your advice…
Answer #44
Its getting cold here, how is the weather there?
I also stopped playing like 4 years ago, just started again
The graphics card is better than mine, thats cool.
I think 1200 dollars is too much. Remember my laptop did cost 700 euro, and its working perfectly. Spending more than 1000 is just for high AA and other special effects on high level. That bit of a difference is not worth it, unless you dont care for the money.

Yes, I’m in the UK.
Our Dell sales used to be based in Bray in Southern Ireland, you could haggle with them also. Then they moved most of the call centre to India, where it is even easier to haggle. You have to have an idea of the on-line price first, and then knock about 30% off that. When you get to the lowest price – then you start upgrading the hardware, so best if you intend getting top range to ask for specs slightly lower in the first place.
Once the hardware upgrades are done for free, then you go for the free extended warranty (on site next business day)/accidental damage, free rucksacks, mp3 players etc.
They are a little more difficult to bargain with since they bought out Alienware, you used to be able to play them off against each other.
When you think that when you can get all this stuff, you realise how much money they are actually making in the first place. Indeed Dell are a rip-off, but you just play them at their own game. Also, they do have extremely good warranties.
I don’t see why you can’t do the same thing in the USA, after all, in this economy it is a buyers market.
Answer #46
@Dawe80 Its getting cold here too to the zeros and negatives yeah 1200 is more and i CARE for money…..
So after 4 years how is it to get back playing huh?
Fingers still moving fast or trying to catch up th pace
i found it a bit hard to move so swiftly as before..need practice
whats ue make n config??
@gilly
Yeah here i talked with 8 customer service ppl at dell..they cant get the config i want , they dont negotiate the price..nothing..whats on the site is what u get..thats a total bulls***…
In India u dont even need the dell, they make everything for u from scratch what ever u need in it..hahah
Its pretty easy there..
here these guys just follow whats shown n whats there..kind of stupid..
Answer #47
Its really nice,
Graphics have improved much and really nice games are out, like Ghost Recon AW, Worms Crazy Golf, Stronghold 3..its awesome
I think I am almost as fast as before, but I cant really tell, I dont play online no more.

Answer #49
i agree. Don’t buy a laptop for gaming. And an alienware is far too overpriced.
You should get yourself a deskop pc. I just bought a HP pavilion HPE h8-1050, check it out, that’s the kind you need.
Answer #50
@gilly
Yeah over priced here and no options to config. they have their own config ang specific price for it..
@Jorre
I second you, there is nothing that can beat a PC, Its like the master of universe, but i keep moving and i cant carry it…so cant have it now ..
thnx for the suggestion
@Dawe80
Well i was asking about ur system config
Yesterday i started playing Driver Sanfrancisco…
Answer #51
I have 2.5 GHz dual core, 4 GB ram and HD 5650..its working great, i just made too much use out of TuneUpUtilities. I tried to combine gamebooster and TuneUpUtilities and all of a sudden every game was lagging. Then i uninstalled TuneUpUtilities and its back to normal, just that obviously gamebooster has no effect no more. Oh well, its ok
Will see if i can download driver..i use mobile phone for internet.
Have a nice weekend and fun playing
Answer #52
@Dawe80
Mobile phone internet, how are the speeds?
Yeah give it a try, you will love the driving..and the cars.
It took me around 22 hours to complete it.
You have a wonderful weekend too see ya
Answer #53
Instead of getting a portable heat furnace on your lap, you should build the computer yourself to your likings.
Answer #54
Well, I had like 250 kbs before, but I downloaded too much, now only 5 kbs. Means no more games, no Driver..
Answer #55
@ Dawe80 man thats too much..lol
@iAsianYou mean build my own laptop? well if some one can guide me i did do that

I wonder if my Radeon HD 5650 will be able to handle Batman Arkham City?
When i use 1600×900 – i found out that most games work great with it, Batman Arkham Asylum all settings at max for example – and i turn off DirectX 11 and no physics, would it run smoothly?
Answer #57
@dawe80
I think it should run fine.. The system requirements are not so high for Batman radeon 4650 runs ..so ur 5650 should handle good
Answer #58
Cool, thanks
Answer #59
@ all
Thank you for all the support guys and the advice provided…
I finally got my laptop..its a HP 15.6″ (not a 1080p)
Intel quadcore i7-2670 2.2 boostable to 3.1GHZ
8GB ram 1333mhz
2GB AMD Radeon 6770 graphics
750GB hard drive @7200 rpm
Beats audio
