iPhone stuck in os installation mode

When i plugged my iphone 3g into itunes it said i needed to restore it so i clicked on restore and update however the phone is now stuck in the os installtion mode (apple logo and installation bar). But its become stuck about 50% through and the bar hasnt moved in over 4 hours…
how i can actually restore the os without it freezing?

you can unplug it, restart PC and try again with SHIFT+Restore method and DFU mode !

i tried shift + restore as well but again the installation of the os froze

Go in DFU and do that again!

been doing it in DFU mode, tried multiple times, both with shift restore and restore and update… freezes every time

Try on another computer! And are you sure that you do know what DFU is?!

i’m really not. ive read dozens of tutorials and ive done this dozens of times.
im putting the phone in DFU mode and then ive tried both ~love~ + restore and restore + update
what could i be doing wrong…

Download new IPSW and try again, update iTunes….
