XP boot problem

The problem is i have burnt the cd and when i put it in it says boot from cd and press any key. I do that but nothing happens. Does it matter if i install it on the desktop?

I think it may be cos the disc is scratched up

Try other bootable CDs if you have them, see if they work, cos it may be some BIOS problem on your motherboard, that doesnt boot CDs properly…
If they work means something is wrong with your current CD.

Check your BIOS and make sure your CD/DVD drive is the first boot device.

Sometimes there are CD’s that you have to “make” bootable, that’s why i suggest you try other bootable cd’s to make sure the problem isn’t with your drive

Did you use the nero burn image and not just add the image to the cd as nrg iso and other images must be done with “BURN CD/DVD FROM IMAGE ” or similar option
