interactive gallery/slideshow help

ok soi have to make a website for a retired movie director which is great so far. untill he decided to ask me to make him a slideshow gallery(photos and videos) which i have never made in my life. i can technically make it but ideas-none. so i need some software that can build clean and yet eye catching galleries… or any good ideas about a design would also work. thanks…
oh and he mentioned this as an example(not 3d in his case obviously)
