HP laptop g series screen problem

January 21st, 2020

good day mates!
i got this laptop running on standby mode for 24hrs or more i think
forgot to turn it off due to massive busy day/s
then when i opened it up.. i just saw a white line at the center of the screen
a white horizontal line at the center of the screen..
is this a screen problem? or what?
right now the laptop is resting.. and it is charging..
hmmm i hope its not that serious problem..

Answer #1
i think it is the graphic card because i had it the same problem at my laptop hp
Answer #2
more likely a screen problem, but it may be the vid card
got an external monitor you can try
if it works ok then it’s a screen prob
same line on the external means it’s a video card/output problem
Answer #3
If you see the white line even when your lappie starts, then its a screen issue.
Or If you see the line after you log on to Windows, then its a graphics issue.
Answer #4
thanks for the replies mates
i tried to run it with an external monitor no lines
so not a graphic issue, most likely a screen issue here
is it really a replacement on the lcd panel? or can i just do some moving the wires connecting inside the panel?
Answer #5
I would recommend using the HP customer care.
Answer #6
There are 3 possible causes:
1. Bad inverter.
2. Bad display cable.
3. Bad monitor.
If I were you, I’d start by replacing 1 & 2. Each should have a sticker with the exact part
number (it can also be found on the service manual) just look it up on eBay, Should be fairly
cheap.
Answer #7
i see 1 & 2 would be such cheap rather replacing the whole lcd panel
i will try it some other time thank you mates! really appreciated all the replies
cheers! more power !
Answer #8
inverter is useless to replace in this situation.
it must be replaced if the lcd has NO LIGHT
also the lcd cable must show some changes when you flip the cover of your laptop. if you get a static image than the only thing to replace is lcd
