my sound card not working

i can hear sounds from my speaker but i can not record from my sound card. as you can see in the image, some parts are disabled. i use xp sp3.

try ticking “stereo mix” , or tick all others besides “stereo mix” in your audio CTRL panel
my check boxes under “recording” say select, not mute

i have tried many including replay music.
try ticking "stereo mix" , or tick all others besides "stereo mix" in your audio CTRL panel
I tried. still no success. it is still the same as i have posted in image above in my first post.

try reinstalling the drivers for the sound card.
