Go to device manager and look at “sound, video and ..”
Do you see your sound card there, or are then any yellow exclamation marks?

This is what my device manager looks
Answer #3
Your sound card don’t seem to be listed..Maybe check the “Other devices”
Answer #4
See that ? on other devices. Likely your problem.
Under sound, you don’t have a sound card listed, so the driver you think you need (the realtek) isn’t the right one.
What does it say if you expand “other”. Right click whatever is there, and goto the details tab and select hardware ID. You can google that to find out what drivers you need, or you can post here and get help.

i downloaded Drivers Pack 2014 ISO and automatically let the software install the missing softwares and updated all drivers.. yet there is no sound…
But the good it.. the yellow mark around unknown drivers in the device manager has gone.
Answer #7
Since its XP, its an old system..did you have working speakers in the past?
Was this your PC, or given to you?
Do you have other cheap speakers to test to make sure the speakers are fine, or test on another PC??
Answer #8
Like I said, device manager, right click, details tab and select hardware ID and post.
Those driver packs are for the birds!

Answer #10
Nope.
Click on Start and then Run.
Type the following command devmgmt.msc
and then hit the Enter key or click on the OK button.
Double-click on the unidentified hardware, choose the “details tab”, and then use the dropdown to select “hardware ID”
you will see something like “USB\VID_0B05&PID_17C9&REV_0001”

There is no unidentified hardware now. my device manager shows the following latest status after updating all the drivers.

Maybe your on board sound or your sound card is dead or not there..
Are you plugging in speakers to the rear of PC to the motherboard pa,
or a separate sound card pa at the rear or to a front pa ??
Answer #13
Do the details thing on the “legacy audio drivers”. The driver pack appears to have installed the wrong ones for you.
Answer #14
You can use CPU-Z to find the make and model of your motherboard or PC and then go to the manufacturers support site for drivers..

no help?
Answer #23
Here are the drivers for the audio controller (nvidia)
After that it should recognize the sound card properly.
Install them and see what HWinfo has to say for itself then !

Actually this might be the way to go in your case…Before worrying about the above..
The approach here is to use this program to check your PC for missing and outdated drivers..
It can then download and install them….It would have to be the best of those type of programs
as I don’t normally recommend them them…(Thanks Fluffbutt!)
IObit Driver Booster..
