What is this “Cinivia?” error

It’s a digital watermark on the audiostream. I.e. a copy protection of some sorts
1. you need to go to the general sound settings and go into the audio output settings
2. whatever you have set there you need to change it to “optical” and put a tick on every audioformat that shows to the right
3. when you do that, you will get a warning that your speakers could get damaged if they can’t handle the imput.
4. just say “ok” and aknowledge the imput with the X-button.
5. then you need to aktivate multiple audio outputs if you haven’t done so already.
5 second on google gave me these options.

Alternatively you can jailbreak your PS3 and play the video file through Showtime Media Player.

No, since you’re still using the PS3’s media player to play the video file. Cinavia will still be in effect. Follow ‘s advice, as this is only one of the very few methods of defeating Cinavia.

If you mean sharing DLC with multiple PS3’s with the one PSN account, then yes, I believe it still works. If I’m not mistaken it is limited to 5 PS3s.
If you mean downloading free DLC via the Rebug method, then no, this has been patched.

yeah i knew the rebug stopped working after 3.6+ my friend said about sharing DLC still worked but i wasnt too sure. looks like ill be playing new cod maps sooner then i though

I’m pretty sure sharing DLC with 5 PS3s is by design and not by fault. I’ll be surprised if Sony stops this.

Cinavia cannot be detected in DTS audio tracks with PS3, while streaming from a computer.

There is no work around for Cinivia protection at this time. No one has been able to crack Cinivia which is being driven by Sony. All Blu-Ray players released after February 2012 must have a Cinivia installed. Firmware upgrades also include Cinivia. Regular DVD players are not effected. Cinivia embeds a non audible sound in the sound track that causes later Blu-Ray players and newer PS3 players to show an error message.
There should probably be a STICKY at the top of the movie forum about Cinivia.

The following applies to fw1.60 up to fw4.00 only, so if you want to benefit from this solution do not update your console!
The first solution to disable Cinavia came from DVDFab. It is a way of creating backups so they don�t trigger Cinavia. This solution is useful for PS3 users who are the most affected by Cinavia so far. What makes it a great solution is that the disc is much like the original (with menus), a protected backup so the Cinavia-enabled player will see it as trusted source and will play it back just like the original. People have made protected (isos) backups in the past, but those had the disadvantage that they only worked with the programs that made them; well, these protected backups are supposed to work on standalone players too.
Requirements:
a Playstation 3 console with a firmware version smaller or equal to 4.00!
original Blu-ray disc with Cinavia watermark. DVDFab and DVDFab Passkey will tell if you have such a disc
a BD-RE (recommended for initial tests) or BD-R disc to store the protected backup
a BD writer
DVDFab and updated writing software. DVDFab checks for it anyway
