Strange connection problems

January 27th, 2020

For about 3 months now, I’ve been having weird problems with my connection.
This seem to happen about every 2 days.
My steam account will lose its connection and when I try to restart it, I will get the message that steam is unable to connect to the internet.
At the same time, all the trackers of my torrents (on utorrent) will time out. I will get connection timed out for all of them.
Now, the only way I found to make it all work again is by restarting my router (unplugging it for 15 seconds).
Everything was perfectly fine before that and I haven’t found any help on the steam or utorrent forums.
Anyone can enlighten me?

Answer #1
Speak to your ISP.
Answer #2
The problem seems to lie with your router.
Try doing a firmware update for it if possible else, you could try noting your router settings and then giving it a factory reset
Answer #3
I’d say the problem is with your ISP or Router.
Try checking the logs from it’s web interface, As they may indicate the cause!
Also, Next time it happens, Before you unplug/replug your router, Pay attention to unusual LED (lights) activity on it!
As in lights that are constantly on that suddenly blink, turn off or change color. Each light should have a text next to it indicating what it’s for. Also, If you’re on a DSL connection, Make sure all of your used phone sockets have filters on em!
