Hmm, strange error

The thing in left hand corner of the icons, very strange to have, how to fix?

there is a guy with what sounds like the exact same problem, who posted on the Microsoft Discussions forum just recently (25th december)
he wasnt given a solution (or didnt give any feed back if he found one)

personally have no idea what caused it.. wat did u change before you noticed it?

i had another look and seriously.. this is a pain in the arse to describe and i cant find anything more relevant then the link i posted.
like jordan said.. maybe a restart will fix? if not maybe system restore?
come back to us with the last change (software.. settings.. anything) that you made.

try this, your arrows may be corrupt
found it by googling “icon overlay vista”

tweakUI or tweakVI may also do it by selecting “no shortcut arrow”

IS it really Vista or is it a customized XP skin? If it’s an XP skin then uninstall it and see if it returns to normal. If not then try fixing your system files by clicking Start–>Run(the start menu search in Vista) and type in “sfc /scannow”, then hit Enter. Instead of the weird thing on the icons it’s supposed to show a curved error that means that the icon can be changed.

i have this one time when i chance my hd name…after get strange icons..
like you have know..i put the old hdname back and fix it icons normal again
u recently chance your hd names ore something??
