University Blocked Websites

February 2nd, 2014

I have to go through my university network to get internet access as I am living in halls. Unfortunately, the bastards have blocked sites such as megaupload, rapidshare etc and so I can’t access them in any way, shape or form.
Does anybody know any way I can get around this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am pretty much useless with computers and have no chance of working this out myself. Thanks.

Look at the following two pages in this section with similar subject lines, or use the search button

I got nothing. The other topics on the front page of the the helpdesk forum have little in common with this one.
I did a search and got a topic about a VPN, but I have no idea what that is.
I get that you guys must get sick of similar requests being made over and over again. If you could post a link to a topic where this kind of problem has been discussed I would really appreciate it.
Edit: I’m an idiot, I found what you were referring too.

VPN = Virtual Private Network
Instead of you connecting directly to Rapidshare, you connect to the VPN which in turn connects to Rapidshare.

So I tried letmethruthis and it worked for megaupload but not any of the others.
About a VPN; does anyone know of a reliable one thats safe to use? Free preferably, but doesn’t have to be. Thanks.

Try Cyberghost. I’ve never tried their free service, as I have cyberghost premimum, but it has to be pretty good. Just be wary, cyberghost free disconnects after 6 hours, and you get 1 GB of traffic.
