XP + Netbook problems!

August 21st, 2013

Hey guys,
Just installed XP on my girlfriends netbook but there is no driver for the FN keys, and I’m trying to lower the screen brightness, any idea how I can do this?!
I’ve look under all the properties and literally everywhere on the computer, but nothing.

Answer #1
net book model ?
Answer #2
Go to the manufacturer’s website and d/l the drivers.
Answer #3
They don’t have XP drivers, only Windows 7 – and the model is vpcm13m1e
Answer #4
Have you downloaded the sfep driver and tried right clicking on the sfep.inf file and pressing install in xp.
Answer #5
Looks like someone has done work for you:

Use caution and scan everything first. If you want to do this by yourself, get AIDA64 (app) from here and proceed as he did.
Or go for a software solution. I recommend Drivermax.
Answer #6
Just tried after you said, to no avail

Then get aid64 from here, download it install, and find unknown devices. From the number it gives you you should be able to find the driver on the net for xp.
Answer #8
Still can’t get it to work :S I need to possibly installed “Event Service” by Vaio, but not sure where to get a version that works for XP!
Answer #9

Answer #10
Fn keys do not usually need a driver, they are part of the lappy’s firmware (BIOS)
are the enabled in the BIOS ?
Answer #11
There isn’t an option on the BIOS unfortunately
Answer #12
will “numberlock” enable (light come on) if you hit that Fn key combo
fo XP this looks to be the latest “Sony® Shared Library for Microsoft® Windows® XP” (and is for VGN lappy)
