Xbox360 mod help please.

August 5th, 2016

Hi all, thanks for the great site..
Could someone please check my setup for xbox modding. I think ive got the general gist of things, but want to make sure before I buy a xbox 360 I cant mod, or break something.
From what I understand, I just buy any xbox 360.
And its the DVD drive that needs modding or needs a rom / flash update., And not the actual machine/motherboard. And instead of updating the rom/bios with a updated one, you update it with a hacked one that ignores the protection some how.
The DVD drive is a Sata, so you just unplug it from the Xbox, plug it into your PC,flash it follow a tutorial guide, then put it back into the xbox.
Theres several different drives, so use the right flash for the right drive.
Then you download, and burn iso’s onto DVD +R DL disks at 1/2 the max speed of the burner.
Is all the above right? Please / thanks…
Also another question, Im in australia, So im a little worried about buying a Australian machine, with a Australian DVD drive, that there isnt a mod for. Is this a problem?
And, is their any Vista 64 supported program’s that work? Or so i need to partition on the fly, and install vista 32 onto a second partition to do this?
Thanks a lot..
Regards.

Answer #1
a.) Not every 360 is able to be flashed.
b.) The DVD drive gets flashed with custom firmware.
c.) There is no “ROM/BIOS” update necessary.
d.) You can’t use any SATA chipset to flash a 360, there are only certain chipsets compatible.
e.) You burn games at the lowest speed supported by the disc.
f.) The ability to modify the drive’s firmware don’t have anything to do with where you are in the world.
Answer #2
The more newer 360 drives are more crazy to flash, require removing a layer of epoxy glue and cut off 2 legs from a IC.

First of all let me say this isn’t idle speculation on my part as a lot of answers on this forum are.
1.) Every drive is flashable.
2.)Its the firmware on the drive that is flashed, so no moddification to motherboard etc..
3.) The region does not matter with regards to the firmware. Only with regards to playing games.. ie. A flashed Pal xbox360 will not play NTSC games. Only Region Free Games or Pal Games. 4.) First establish what drive is in the XBOX360 then Pm me and I’ll give you a hand.
5.) You will also need to check the chipset you have as not all sata chipsets will allow you to flash drive.
