the nov 19th date is only if you care about online play. just don’t play online until after that date, I guess.

Jesus, I didn’t even know you could do that! I think it’s safe to say he most definitely didn’t read the flashing instructions properly, or left a bagel in the case.
Don’t mod it cause of the warranty issues. If you do mod it… there is still the risk of getting the bloody “Ring of Death” and then your *****!.. Happened to me :'( and had to buy a new one. I got someone to fix it but it only lasted for six months then it broke again :S.

i don’t get it. if you mod it, and play online.. can’t you get caught by M$?
You can definitely get caught by M$, M$ will hunt you down, burn down your house, kill your parents, kill your sister, kill your brother and torture you everyday untill you slowly fade away…

If you mod it, there will be a change in the coding of the firmware , and when you connect online, and there was a random check and your machine was detected to be running on an altered firmware code, it’ll be banned. I plan to get a 360 soon too.
Anyways as i have heard there are 2 recomended firmwares, xtreme and ixtreme. xtreme is able to play all backup games but it has a high risk of being detected when you play online.
ixtremem is able to play games that are stealth patched ( you gotta burn the game in some special way i believe) and they have lesser risk than xtreme.
But i heard that there are also modchips that you can add to your 360 that has the on off button. So if you want to play backup games, you turn the modchip on and play it offline, and if you have a legit copy of the game and want to play it online, you’d just turn the modchip off and play it online . I still have not made up my mind..

The Nov. 19th thing is about NXE, and the huge possibility that modded consoles will be banned from XBL on that day. I plan to unplug my 360 on the 18th, wait for a few days to see if anyone gets banned with NXE, and then plug it back in. Simple as that, really.

MS can’t check your firmware, they check the details of the games you have, and if they’ve been stealth patched the wrong way you get busted. All scene releases being released are stealth patched so there’s no reason to use anything else than iextreme.

Are you sure they check on the details of games? i have been told , and people have clarified , They moded their xbox 360 and played it online with a legit game, and after awhile they got banned.

�20. Some guy in my area has all the right cables, so rather than spend �15-20 on buying them, I just went to him. It was all over in 5 minutes

I was signed in to XBL whilst playing GH2 before. Haven’t tried any online play yet, though (and I’m too scared to sign in to Live when playing Gears 2). About 5 of my mates have all had the same firmware done by the same guy, and they’ve been going for months without any sign of being banned.

I’m pretty sure about the MS checking firmware thingy (if they could do it they would just make a script that did it all the time, right?) When it comes to the stealth patched games, it’s a requirement from the unofficial scene rules (that most/all groups follow)

My guess is a modchip is not possible with softmod.

Ah great. So say, i have a moded 360 but i play it online with an original game disc, am i excluded from being banned?
And just to confirm, if i get ixtreme firmware, i would be able to run all scene released games right?

As far as i know , only the hardmod allows you to turn it off….
