Writing discs. Best format for this DVD player?

May 24th, 2014

Hello Good people of WarezBB.
I’m puting some downloaded tv programmes onto a dvd for a friend.
Her player is a Philips DVP3120. Online research says that it will play CD, (S)VCD, DVD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW
What would be the best format to burn the files in? There’s quite a few of them (15gb to be precise) so I’d like to be economic.
As you can tell, I’m not that tech savvy.
Thanks in advance,
LMJ

You’re gonna have to convert them to DVD format.

DVD Video would the only one worth while considering the lack of options,You’d need to use Convertxtodvd,Do note
that video compression varies with different video codecs and MPEG2 (DVD) has far worse compression than
XVID/MKV,You’d be needing at least 7 DVD discs for this.
Answer #3
Ah….ok. That could work.
Thank you both.

Wazz – it’s seasons 6 and 7 of Grey’s Anatomy. In their downloaded states 6 is 8.72gb and 7 is 7.51gb. Both are avi.
I normally just burn them as data files and my player can read them. However, my friend’s is a bit older.
Gives me a headache, frankly!

You got your calculations wrong,He’s gonna burn it as DVD Video,Not Data and there are differences in compression
among different formats,He’d need 7 discs to maintain good quality.

I didn’t say anything bout burning has data. Freemake video convertor is jus like convertxtodvd.
40 min Eps
11-12 eps on each DVD is fine
4 DVDs is fine for this
trust me I done this before. The quality was brillant

Correct,This was an assumption on my part that you got confused,And to be honest I still have my doubts on this.
The OP mentioned the files total at 15GB,4 Single layer DVD discs equals to 17.52GB,Different video codecs
have different compression ratios and in this regards MPEG2 (DVD Video) is far worse than XVID/MKV,I can’t
possibly see how he’d be able to fit these to 4 single layer discs (As DVD Video) with only a margin of 2.52GB,Again,MPEG2
has far worse compression ratio,I’m not sure it’s even possible to fit 480 minutes on a SL DVD Disc,But even if it is,The quality
would most likely be terrible.
