Windows XP Pro SP3

August 18th, 2013

I’ve installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on my HP Pavilion PC that has 2GB RAM, it used to have Windows 7 as OS and I find Windows XP appearance abit boring, is there a way to transform the look of Windows XP to Windows 7 without using alot of RAM resources as I use drawing softwares like AutoCAD, AutoDesk, Photoshop

I don’t want to cause system to crash

Does that cause system to crash and how many RAM resources does it use?

If you’re looking for a lighter version of Windows, give Windows Starter a try. Most netbooks can handle it and there are several tweaks to make it look better

I’ve already installed Windows XP Pro SP3 with all the softwares I need

Just find a theme that you like, you don’t have to stick with the default ones. There are thousands available and many for free.
There is a showdesktop taskbar button available like Win 7. Checkout FileBoxExtender because it’s far superior to anything that Win 7 has and it speeds up access to folders and other things that makes XP work better than Win 7 IMO. Win 7 has far too much eyecandy crap in it which is annoying more than being actually useful.

Will it use more RAM resources if I change the XP theme to others? I just want a identical or similar theme of Windows 7 for XP

I’m going for a upgrade in few months so no need to upgrade to more RAM, so will it use more RAM resources if I change the XP theme to others?
Any good website to download Windows 7 themes for XP?

You want windows to use more memory without using more memory. How do you think you can do that? Having transparent windows and all the other things that Win 7 with Aero uses, means using more memory! If all you want is Win 7, then install Win 7.
Getting XP to look like Win 7 is pointless IMO. It’s going to use more memory and be slower if you do it. All it is is eye candy and offers nothing to make it more usable. The favourite folders are useless on 7, the annoying pop ups every time you go near the taskbar are annoying, grouping everything together just slows work down while you try to find stuff. For me, using Win 7 is a hell of a lot slower when doing what I do than using XP. There are a few benefits such as memory management and much better SSD support but the UI sucks. It’s funny why you want all that crap.
Does google not work for you?

Try this, I’ve used it before switching. There’s a performance option with means that it’ll use the same amount of RAM as the standard XP theme.

I just want the Windows 7 taskbar look and folders/icons, not the animation effects of Windows 7

The Aero transparent window look can be done on XP but I think that it will use more memory and be slower than the standard XP Luna theme. The taskbar show/peek desktop is available because I use it. That is available on deviantart. However that might be available as part of a XP Win 7 theme pack so might not be needed.
Folder and Icons can be changed easily and is part of XP. There are many different icon styles available.
Windowblinds can change the look of windows desktop but cracked versions are risky IMO.

In my experience you would be better if you just install win 7 if you want all that eyecandy. I think using transformation packs is gonna slow your computer more than installing win 7.
If that is not an option i propose you to just stick with the original xp looks. It seems hard to get used to if you used win 7 before but trust me it isnt.

This might be the closest answer for you. Not sure if there are any simple vista/7 msstyle themes for xp that don’t use any extra pc resources.
I am running xp too so would like to know if this works as smoothly as the default xp theme..
