Install DosBox, Boot Windows 95 & Run Old Windows Game..

August 19th, 2013

The game in question is “Dr. Drago’s Madcap Chase” which will run on Windows 7, but issues with mouse drivers & wave sound support result in crashes far too frequently.. I would like to get the game to run via dosbox with windows 95 running like I have seen on some videos on youtube.
The only problem is that I’m having trouble with it..
I was wondering if anyone else had used windows 95 through DosBox in order to play old games & if so whether they could help me out or reply with a step by step guide from installing DosBox right through to booting windows 95 & then installing/playing the windows games?
Any help will be much appreciated!

DosBox (I think) is too limited for W95 – it’s primarily designed to run games and some apps as a dos mini-replacement (it tells the apps/games it is dos 5.0).
You CAN use QEMU, there is a XP portable here that uses qemu, and does it very well.
There is no reason you can’t start up qemu with a blank drive (drive file) and mounted W95 iso and install W95 into qemu. Then you can install the games and run them inside that.

Thanks for the response, I’ll take a look at QEMU then and report back with how I get on!
