The laptop isn’t mine, it belongs to a friend of mine, I don’t want to pull it off and afraid that I can’t attach it back on, is there a alternative way?

In general or only when you press shift+key? Are these keys suppose to show a currency sign or a special
character of a sort?

I would do that too, but if you’re not willing to take risks, you probably are not going to be able to fix it.
