Windows Movie Maker alternative

For whatever reason, windows movie maker freezes on me constantly, and thus it is now useless. Does anyone know of any software that can do everything windows movie maker can, something simple, nothing massive like sony vegas or adobe premier?

there is nothing massive about premier, it just has more features. not hard to use

TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress doesn’t seem to be what i’m looking for.
– I don’t mind premier, but it lags the crap out of my pc.

how about the software that came you your camera?

It’s a sony cybershot still camera, but takes AWESOME video w/sound, can film concerts fine with decent sound. No software for video editing was included. I’m having a look at Powerdirector, it may suffice.
