windows explorer problem

hi there does anyone know how to solve my problem? what it is, is that when i try to organise folders by date modified or size i get a wierd ranking, for example when i sort by date modified it is arranged by day first then month and then year.

this has only started happening recently, where as before it used sort by normal date for example i would see files modified on 22/11/2008 first. a similar thing also happens when sorting by size.
i know its not a massive problem but it find it really useful for finding files anyone know what i need to do to change i back?

check your folder options under tools and see if there’s any “intuitive sorting” option or the like
