Windows busy circle because of java virus

January 29th, 2020

Over the past 1-2 months, my mouse got an occasional busy circle, maybe once every 10 minutes or so. I thought it was because of some background system process but just today, i did a full MSE (microsoft security essentials) sweep and it found a Java CVE-2013-0422 virus which is supposedly extremely dangerous. Its purpose is to “download and run other files on your computer, including other malware” with the possibility of stealing your info which sounds like any other trojan/malware. after removing the virus, i no longer get the busy circle whatsoever. logic therefore dictates that the busy signal had something to do with the virus. my concern is that each time i saw a busy signal, the virus was uploading/downloading some stuff from my computer.
How valid is my concern? and is there anything more I can do after removing the virus?
Also, I frequently (every other day) used MBAM quick scans and full scans but it never detected a virus of this magnitude.

Answer #1
a fresh install of the OS is recommended
Answer #2
And check and change your passwords to various site.
Answer #3
damn how bad could it be?
and how ineffective is mbam…
Answer #4
I’m with on this.
Unless you can debug the malware and analyze it’s behavior, you have no sure way of knowing if it’s truly gone or what it left behind in your system. I’d recommend a fresh start with an untouched copy of Windows and a decent AV in future (MSE should suffice for that!)
Answer #5
are you guys talking about a reformat or simply a fresh installation of just the OS? the former would take quite a while, the most daunting task being reinstalling everything with my current preferences.
Answer #6
fresh installation of OS should do.
Answer #7
just to get a better idea, what other kind of malicious things could this virus have opened my computer up to?
Answer #8

Mbam has become useless recently try spyhunter 4 you will find a cracked one in the apps section if that fails as already been said its a clean install required.
