windows 8.1 major problems pls help

August 7th, 2016

K sorry not sure what info will be needed but my comp. got ruined from letting my gf and son use it so Im not sure what caused it. However these r the problems Im facing: At first couldnt start it at all, then outta dumb luck i managed to get it started but everytime it needs to have the reinstallation disk inserted otherwise itll go to a screen that asks which drive to bbot from and C isnt one of em. Then theres no sound at all even tho in device manager it says everything is working properly. Also alot of the time in task manager 99% of the disk is being used it goes up and down but it would never come close before even during bootup. I tried to rerpair windows but everytime theres a problem and it reverts back to nothing being fixed/changed. If i try it from bootup it says i need admin privledges. System restore doesnt work either always says an error occured . Ive used a bunch of malware and virus scans so i dont think its a virus or malware. Does anyone know what i can do. If u neeed more info bout my system dont hesitate to ask ill b checking this thread very often thanks

Seems like the most probably cause is some kind of malware What did you use to scan?

Can you get into Safe mode? Depending on the type of PC, ( you don’t mention) try pressing F8 when booting up.
From within safe mode, you can try to run AV and stuff, lke MalwareBytes, then SuperAnti Spyware apps. Not sure if this is the root cause, but likely a corrupted OS.
You should be able to go back in time and restore it to a time BEFORE the gf and son started to mess with ur pc from Safe mode.
Otherwiseyou may find it faster to reinstall Windows again.

Get yourself an untouched windows iso, boot from disc or USB and format your hdd.
It’s the quickest and easiest way.

You tried system restore (to a point before it got messed up)?
A bit of advice ……… Install something like Acronis True Image or EaseUS Todo Backup then do regular backups of your OS partition to another partition or HD. If you do this and problems like yours crop up it only takes about 15/20 minutes to restore your computer to where it should be by reinstalling your OS from the saved image.

He did say in his post, system restore gave errors.

Perhaps he was trying to restore from a point after it got cocked up, then it would give errors.

Yep.
Though a format and fresh install should fix it.

I can vouch that this doesn’t work very well, tried it 3 times in total, it worked once, fortunately I keep Acronis Backups, so it wasn’t an issue , just wished to try it.
