First of all, being able to test the windows 8 at work (im an IT consultant), its seem users like windows 8 but need a little time to adapt to. The changes are mostly the gui with the metro ui which isnt bad afterall. Performance wise windows 8 is lighter than windows 7 and does restart and shut down amazingly fast. It all depends, at first i didnt really like windows 8 but having a go at time definitively change my ideas and started to like windows 8.

It is a lot of new features layouts etc I thought I would grow on it after time but I really don’t like it.. And this new hot corner crap I try to click the Firefox tab in upper left when I surf and I always click the top left corner and it’ll switch to like a movie player pita

$14.99 for a genuine Win 8 is cheap and easy upgrade (just tell them you bought a computer within 6 months):

I downloaded the ‘upgrade’ ISO to disc and did a clean install (to dual boot with Win 7)
I have to say I don’t like Win 8 better than Win 7 yet. much like any new OS some older programs don’t run as well. But if you don’t like the new Start screen you can just stay in desktop mode for the most part. The biggest surprise is even at this early stage of Win 8 there are useful apps to be had. Even though I am going to stick with Win 8 I recommend others to wait until more apps are available and all the bugs are fixed/3rd party drivers are more available. But the $14.99 deal ends Jan 13, so maybe buy now if you think you will try later.
