Answer #2
you can try to go to safe mode and delete it that way it always works for me
it does it sometime when you copy and paste to a different place and it forget to close the moving process
this what i am talking about

if you know the process called in task-manager close it in there and try to delete it again

Try Unlocker, its a very handy tool.

Unlocker didn’t work for me on Win7 x64 anymore, so I found another called LOCKHUNTER which works.

It won’t work unless you get the correct edition that is the 64bit edition. Get the 64bit from here, works for me:

I tried the 64bit one, it did not work for some reason, so I just switched But try that one if you want.

Squirrelman,
1. Try opening “CMD” on Desktop, type (Del) without the brackets, leave 1 space
and Drag the File you want to Remove into the CMD BOX! now Press (Enter)
If all is well, File should Disappear.
OR
2. Check “Processes” to make sure that nothing is running in the Background
that is restricting you from removing the Files!
p.s I also am Running Win 7 X64 SP1 and have had no problems with “Unlocker x64”

I can verify that Unlocker will break on some 64 bit installations of Windows 7 and stop working. I have also had to switch to lockhunter to fix this problem.
And I always use the correct version!

If you have copied files over using explorer, and then you can’t delete them, then just open Task Manager (3 finger salute, CTRL+ALT+Del) and stop explorer.exe in the processes tab, then File > New Task (Run), type “explorer.exe” – you should then be able to delete the files.
