Why so much trouble opening files
August 4th, 2016
Alot of them say file corrupt etc……. thanks for any info in advance!!!!
Maybe the files are not complete..Check the size of the archives..
Or maybe corrupt..If so..Download again..
What the Lion says and:
The newer winrar 5 archive is not backwards compatible with winrar 4 – rar files from v5 can’t be opened with v4.
So, you might have v4 and are downloading v5 rars??
Also, to extend what said:
If you download s multi-volume archive all the archives but the last should be exactly the same size.

If any one of those first 7 is not that size then the file is corrupted.
You might be able to re-download just that one and be fine… or it might be corrupted from before the upload, in which case you’re SOL and need to look elsewhere for the program.
Thank you for all your input!
I just dont understand it…..Alot of apps I get off of here work on my XP puter but not windows 7….I thought they might have something on windows 7 to block them?

It very much depends (sorry).
Some programs just don’t like W7 – you need compatibility mode set to XP.
Some programs need newer visual C++ dll files – you can grab them from MS, visual c++ runtimes (get both 32 bit and 64 bit versions if you have x64 windows).
It might also be a protection – UAC in W7 does block some programs.
