Why can’t my utorrent get more peers?

I am downloading a file that has nearly 1000 peers and seeders, and out of the 1000 peers i am only downloading from 30?
my port is forwarded fine.. what could be the problem?

xp has a limited number of connections. i think ms introduced it w sp2.
there is some registry hack to fix it
also utorrent has connection settings or something, it might be limited there

That wasn’t a virus I used it to patch my pc too a long time ago, that is the exact solution to the connection problem. It is detected only because it alters the tcpip connections.
