Which one of these 5 laptops should I buy?
January 22nd, 2020
I’m about to buy a new laptop, I’ve narrowed it down to 5 candidates and I’ll appreciate your help choosing which one to buy, so please let me know which would be your first choice, and which is your second choice:
Dell Inspiron 3537 – Intel i5-4200 1.6Ghz – 6GB RAM – 1TB HD – AMD Radeon 8670M 2GB – TouchScreen – 3 years warranty
Dell Inspiron 3521 – Intel i7-3537 2.0Ghz – 4GB RAM – 1TB HD – AMD Radeon 8730M 2GB – TouchScreen – 3 years warranty
Asus S550CM – Intel i7-3517U 1.9Ghz – 4GB RAM – 750GB HD – 24GB SSD – Nvidia GeForce GT635M 2GB – TouchScreen – 3 years warranty
Asus S551LB – Intel i5-4200U 1.6Ghz – 8GB RAM – 750GB HD – 24GB SSD – Nvidia GeForce GT740M 2GB – TouchScreen – 3 years warranty
Samsung NP350V5C – Intel i5-3230M 2.6Ghz – 8GB RAM – 1TB HD – AMD Radeon 8850M 2GB – TouchScreen – 3 years warranty
Thanks!
My choice:
None of them.
I don’t like amd video, so first two are out. I’m not interested in touchscreens, so # 3/4/5 are out. All those CPUs are pretty low end too.
But that’s me, not you – which also illustrates the pointlessness of asking this type of question.
What would I recommend? = i5 or i7, latest gen + 8g ram + Nv GT650 and up ot GT750 and up, 750 Gig HD, maybe an SSD if you can afford it.
if you have only these options I would pick this Dell Inspiron 3521 – Intel i7-3537 2.0Ghz – 4GB RAM – 1TB HD – AMD Radeon 8730M 2GB – TouchScreen – 3 years warranty but try not to get with touchscreen, and with 8GB RAM… CHEERS
I’m not very fond of graphics on a system so whatever there is it should be enough for my needs. Unless you play games then you would already have some headaches on the laptop choice. RAM wise you should be looking at 8gb options or at least more than 4gb to keep yourself on par with what the future holds, 4gb is ok too for the time being i guess, depending on what you need of course. Additionally SSD would make a more pleasant workplace, even a small one to just have your OS there but not having one isn’t a big deal i guess, i have just 200gb on disk space on laptop but i keep backups on a disk other files on another disk, dropbox and google drive are assisting with travelling issues and most of the time i have a WD passport with me as well. From my point of view there is no need to have a large disk on a laptop unless you need it, for example you don’t need all your music with you all the time. Can’t see what’s the fuss with touchscreen unless you need that too, if you don’t i would recommend staying away to drop the budget from there and throw it somewhere else.
Out of your choices i would prefer the DELL ones, they have great customer service and after sales support. Probably the second one with the i7 since the ram is upgradable but you get stuck with the CPU you have. Talking about upgrades like the ram you could upgrade the HDD yourself too in the future incase you go for SSD.
All in all i +1 the 2nd option you have there on your list.
What is the purpose of these laptops? I’m assuming gaming.
If that is the case then pick the last one, as it does have a good gaming balance.
I need it mainly for studies, for my day-by-day student life, but from time to time I am playing – nothing major, nothing like BF4 or something, buy things like CoD:MW3, Americas Army etc
