Which laptop/processor?
July 31st, 2016
# Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor T4300
# (2.1Ghz, 800Mhz, 1MB Cache)
OR
# AMD Turion processor RM74
# (2.2Ghz, 1MB Cache)
I can’t seem to find any benchmarks directly comparing the 2. People say Turion > pentium, but I imagine a high end pentium would beat a turion.
: AMD is generally more powerful than the intel processors…
but i’d say try a c2d or an atom processor if going for intel better than the old dual-core processor… atom processors are most commonly for notebooks/netbooks of 11 inch or less.
2.2GHz is a pretty decent spec for a laptop processor. I would go with AMD in this day and age.
somethg else to consider bringing up a new lap/note/netbook device these days : MAKE SURE IT’S windows 7 ready ! you don’t want to gift something that would feel out of age :S
except of course you are/ he’s a linux user… then you’ll have all my thumbs up ~ you took the courageous step i am considering since 4 years
Here’s a comparison:
AMD:
Intel:
Even though the AMD RM-74 is a 65nm processor compared to the Intel T4300 which is a 45nm processor , the Turion RM-74 has it in it to beat the Dual Core T4300 in terms of performance. 🙂
I’d say the AMD Turion RM-74 is the better choice…
Here's a comparison:

that’s a good comparison there… what site did you use for it ?
I use the following site for looking up specs. The above is from the same:

Cheers, mate…
thx friend … will give it a try.. it looks descent
amd it is then. I don’t want an atom because this is meant for performance/home-use, so I don’t need modern low power cpus :p
Thanks for the replys.
No problem, mate…
crap I didn’t bookmark the sites and can’t find them again
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !
absloutely the most Hilarious post i read today ..
sorry for that .. but really your post made my day !
