Which GFX Card

August 8th, 2016

Hi Guys, I’m looking to build a new computer and I would like to purchase a graphics card which will be able to run crysis 2 (on high – max settings)
I have narrowed it down to 3 cards at the moment:

1) ATI 6870 (around 200)

2)Ati 5770 Crossfire (110 per card)
3) GTX 460 SLI (around 120 per card)
I’m not expert of GFX cards, but I’d love to see what you guys think.
I’m also open to suggestions, but my budget is a maximum of 250
Thanks in advance !

Answer #1
ATI is better Gtx is poor and not recommended
Answer #2
Would you say Ati 6870, or crossfire ATI 5770?

Ati mate

Regardless of brand I would buy a single card as it always gives you an upgrade path later so I would say the 6870 even though the two 460’s in SLI would get you slightly better performance.
Answer #5
I agree, but with the 6870 being a new card, I don’t really have a clue as to where it will perform on crysis 2… Do you think it is the best card for 200?

Pretty much, unlike CPU’s there is very few ‘value’ purchases with Graphics cards and the 6870 is a good upper mid range card.
As for Crysis I don’t really know if it will max it out, I suppose it depends on what resolution you intend to play it on.
Answer #7
its obvious mate, the costlier will be the better one so go for the first one ..
Answer #8
Thanks for the advice guys. Would you say the 6870 is the best ATI card for under 250 or do you think a 5770 or 5850 is better?

Now i’ve actually found a ATI 5870 for 240 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-xfx-hd-5870-pci-e-21-4800mhz-gddr5-gpu-850mhz-1600cores-dp-dvi-hdmi-aliens-vs-predatorPlease remember that ALL links must be coded, including, but not limited to, e-mail addresses, passwords, and internal links. Coded for you this time.

for 235… If I were, say to couple this with an AMD X4 635, or possibly an AMD x6 1055t, do you think this would run crysis on max at 1920 x 1080?

more then likely, but id just get the 6870 as its in between the performance of a 5850 and a 5870.
Answer #11
id get 5770 instead 6000 series (nothing special in 6k series)
Good card I was looking at was the SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 5870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102872
Though price tag was expensive at the time, its 220 now (well that’s what price is from newegg)

A big LOLWUT to all the posts above. OT: Get the 6870. It’s a sweet spot atm. Or get a deal on a GTX 470. Raw power (maximum frames/sec) wise though the SLI 460s will destroy everything else but the minimum frames/sec will be lower
