Answer #1
I recommend VLC Media Player.
Answer #2
+1 for VLC. Handles all of the formats out there without having to download extra codec packs.
Answer #3
vlc
Answer #4
I prefer MPC-HC (Media Player Classic – Home Cinema) to be the best, lightweight (free and open source as well) media player. It may not be much in terms of looks (which I reckon you don’t need if you’re playing videos in full screen) but it does not skimp on functionality. It can play any format you throw at it and has GPU acceleration built in.

Answer #13
Another vote for VLC. Media Player Classic is nice as well. I prefer those 2 over BS player, but BS player has a function for automaticly finding subtitles, which I haven’t seen in any other player.

All you have to do is press the ‘D’ key within MPC-HC to download subtitles for the video.

VLC plays everything perfectly fine for me.
Answer #17
For digital video such as mp4, mkv, flv, etc. I recommend Zoom Player MAX 8.6.1 with the Roman RuslangXP serial. It can play anything you throw at it. For DVD’s and Blu-rays, I recommend TotalMedia Theatre 6.0.1.123 with the keygen by fcATMT5.
Answer #18

+1 for VLC.

VLC player for 720p and
MPC-HC for 1080p or very high bit rate videos.
VLC can’t beat MPC-HC in terms of 1080p playback
and MPC-HN can’t beat VLC in terms of 720p or lower playback period.

VLC can't beat MPC-HC in terms of 1080p playback
and MPC-HN can't beat VLC in terms of 720p or lower playback period.

Why is it better for 720?

VLC can't beat MPC-HC in terms of 1080p playback
and MPC-HN can't beat VLC in terms of 720p or lower playback period.

Why is it better for 720?

VLC tries to better the quality by kinda blurring the edges of each pixel in the video and thus 720p looks better.
But when it tries to render 1080p(s) or higher it does the same and it spoils the quality(barely noticable).
And colors in MPC-HC seems better without any ‘warm effect’ on the video.
