Whats a keygen?

whats a keygen? Is it something like a “crack” or no? I was looking for a crack for a game and the word keygen came up many times what does it mean?

It creates a serial number for programs. It’s not a “crack” because cracks don’t require a serial number.

keygens are normaly used to install the program, cracks are used after installing and you will normaly only need 1 or the other

I have a game (battle field 2) installed and everything If I want to play it without a CD I only need the crack then right?

yes but bf2 is an online game and you wont be able to play on most servers if you dont have the real game… you can play offline but its boring as hell

It’s a custom executable specially designed and coded to output characters assigned to a certain serial key combination, each serial is individually generated automaticly by an engine which calculates the serial key with a crafty, efficient and accurate algrithm (sp?).
