what is the best way to protect my PC against investigation

I have read about that trial in Sweden agains Pirat Bay.
And i Norway have a gay got a big fine for downloading piratcopies.
I think it will be more of this in the future.
So my question is.
What is the best way to protect a PC against investigation with forensic-software and so on.?
What software do I need?

Use an extarnal harddisk, and use it when it’s necessary.

The Best Way ever possible is having no illegal contents [even deleted ones]
So i prefer you go with a high level disk format tool that ormats hd using 35 passes or so.
that will really wipe out illegal files and how ever you try they cant be recovered.

Yes it does, but don’t play with them, when the police or somehing knock your door,
you can’t erase your files faster.
But with an extarnal harddisk[ usb etc. ], you can throw it away or hide it.
or
You can use extarnal harddisk on internet. There are a lot of services which are provide hard disk on internet.
[ but you should have perfect internet connection and have a lot of money for it =) ]

R-wipe and clean lets you set cheduled wipe of your sellection to the gutman 35 pass standard on selected folders freespace or whatever I set it to clean most things on every shutdown I know its not possible to to avoid recovery but only at hugh expense so it would need to be pretty important for any one to bother However the real damage is done by the records of ALL YOUR NET ACTIVITY held by your Isp which the law can access so even if its not on your pc you can still be done for downloading it and many routers actually hold log files I know at least 1 person who won by claiming his wifi was open and so some one else had used it
