What is the best Media Player out there?
August 1st, 2016
My thoughts are as follows:
1st: VLC Media Player
2nd: GOMPlayer
3rd: WMP
I however, noticed many users here downloading BS Player!!
So help is needed? Thanks
You forgot KMPlayer on that list which is also very popular. Overall i’d say the best is whatever player you like working with.
For me it’s VLC,Nothing compares (Ive tried adjusting the colors/brightness/contrast
on other players to be as close as possible but none of em gave me the same vivid colors
VLC did)
BS Player rulez
VLC and KMP are probably my favorite, since they are so simple and can play almost all formats.
I like my Media Player Classic.
i use XBMC
http://xbmc.org/download/
Combined Community Coded pack with Media Player Classic is good so is vlc KM and GOM
thanks a lot for all ur mixed views and opionions?
I just want someone out there to tell me anything that BS Player has that VLC and GOM lack!!!
Thanks!!!
i use XBMC

Thats a really rare one:D
Never heard bout that one!

Interesting,I’ll check it out..
I have always thought that The KMplayer is the most versatile and adaptable and would recommend that.
Use it with CoreACV 2 codecs for h264 HD stuff…unless you have a good gpu utilisation codec.

Agreed.. KMplayer the best media player..
no doubt.
K-lite uses less resources.
Awesome:D
Guess I shud check out KMPlayer and BSPlayer!!!
@Dragon Core? K-lite is a coce pack not player? I used to resort to that so I can play on WMP but never felt it!
Keep the suggestions coming people!!
its all down to personal preference. i tend to use media player classic with the combined community codec pack because of the simplistic menus in media player. But i find meida player crappy when ti comes to subtitles especially formats like .ass so i use other players for them

Yea ur kinda right .
I personally really like GOMPlayer!
VLC is just the best for Formats!!!
wmp with codecs, quite easy to handle the library
Shark007 + VLC
VLC = leet winrar!!!!1!!1!!!111
Kantaris is another good one http://www.kantaris.org/
I’ve been hearing about this XBMC and how great it is. I’m going to try it out.
But it the meantime for audio quality and library management, nothing beats Winamp Pro 5.572. For video quality, nothing beats PowerDVD10 Ultra. It builds a library of your videos automatically from Windows Explorer, library is simple but useable.

NOW THATS A NEW ONE!!! lol

Yea if VLC or GOMPlayer weren’t around to be honest! That was how I approached things b4 like way back!!
I reli need to check out BSPlayer and KMPlayer too!!!
Keep em coming ppl
I have to give my vote to KMPlayer.
I have to give my vote to KMPlayer.
Kool.. So another who supports KMPlayer.. Am swinging that way to try it!!
KM player is most powerful one, everything works there,BS player have nice interface and if you need subs it downloads it automatically for you,GOM player never have any bugs but is missing many options.

That is true in terms with GOMPlayer I don’t think it has ever been slow or freeze on me, but it does lack the versatility of VLC of the media it can play
As for KMplayer, I dunno but i dont like it
Keep the suggestions coming plz:(
KMPlayer is good for taking screen shots of Amamorphic video, it captures the video in the correct resolution/Aspect ratio where most I have tried only output the storage resolution, ie 720×576 Anamorphic video output by most media players output a screen shot of that resolution where it should be 1024×576 for 16:9 widescreen. That’s the main reason I use it.
VLC sucks though, it’s terrible for playback, terrible for pausing, terrible for colour, just plain terrible for most things.
Kantaris is another good one
http://www.kantaris.org/
Is based on VLC code so I don’t think I will even both trying that.

So overall your verdict is that VLC plain plain Uninstall from system, because I definatley agree with colour and picture quality it’s awful I mean something that I got off here which is 720p BD Rip was no where near the quality i used on GOMPLayer with a DVD Rip of a movie!
What do you make of GOMPlayer and B.SPlayer!!
In terms of KM Player I dunno, but it just doesn’t float my boat really, I find it laggy on my system on a 64bit W7 with 4gb and decent proccessing from AMD.. I find it rather strange!
Thanks
I prefer MPC-HC over other players. It comes down to a matter of personal choice in the end… 🙂
And for my home theater PC, I use GeeXboX.
the KM Player for me. Plays every thing i throw at it with out having to install any codecs. Sound is lot loader and clearer then VLC, which is a bonous when using just laptop speakers. ITs a lot easier to change all of the subtitle settings. Has a crazy amount of setting to twiddle with if you into that kind of thing too

The best thing to say about VLC is that it can play most files without needing codecs. But that’s about the only thing of use for it. If I try to pause a screen to take a screenshot the pausing never stops instantly so I can never get the screen I want. That’s another useless thing about it.
GOM Player I don’t use, I think I installed it once to try but it didn’t appeal and I don’t really remember much about it.
BSPlayer I used to use about 6 to 7 years ago but haven’t really tried it recently, I moved onto other players. Functionality is the most important thing to me. Playing AVISynth files, pausing and taking screenshots, frame advance is an advantage, being able to work with Directshow codecs such as ffdshow, hardware assisted decoding of H264/VC1, eye candy and fancy looks are totally irrelevant to me and so are any form of library/directory building. So for me MPC/MPC-HC do most of what I need, MPC-HC allows hardware assisted decoding of H264/VC1, although MPC can do that using ffdshow now. My usage of Media Players is different to many people, testing video and my Video encodes and preparing posts with screenshots is a priority. I don’t really use a MP as any form of entertainment as I rarely watch anything except for TV on my PC.

KMPlayer is very complicated and has an incredible amount of options, too many for general usage for me.
A list of some of the media players I have in my Media Player folder that you might want to investigate. There are some other older ones on other drives but these are the ones I update.

Very Intriguing Analysis.
However, What do people think of VLC.. I am tending to edge into that these days.. I been hearing it loses lots of Frame Rate tho..
I need more answers plz. thanks
i use media player in windows, the latest version, plus download every codec for it as and when needed. i do not use any other player, except PowerDVD as it looks nice.
vlc pretty much plays everything but i dont like its interface, i prefer using gom player cause its light(doesn’t use much memory) and plays almost all formats…..

I was exactly like you once upon a time. GOM was completely bug free.. It rarely used to update itself….
VLC is the best with media player classic. MPC is lighter because you don’t need to install it
VLC Media Player and Media Player Classic are the two best ones imo.

Can you confirm that VLC doesn’t drop frame rates?
Becoz on many occassions I notice that a movie I download, from an roNy rip or aXXo always seems to look better on GOM player than any other..
I still do love VLC tho becoz its options are mesmerizing and so reliable in opening ANY file you through at it
kmplayer
kmplayer
Hate It So much!
I got 4gb RAM, HP Laptop, 2.4ghz AMD processor ant yet it just hogs my system big time.. I have no clue why!
KM player is the best for me….
Using VLC Media Player, it works great, AllPlayer is good too.
