What is a good laptop for performance/gaming?

Hey everyone, yesterday i made a topic about which is a good desktop computer? but i noticed that i really dont need a desktop but more of a laptop. I was at a store and i came across a Dell Inspiron 15r with the following specs:
Core i5
6gb of ram
1gb ati mobility radeon HD 550v Graphics Card
640gb Harddrive
15.6 inch screen

Is this a good laptop for performance/gaming? please answer thanks in advance. Also which laptop for gaming do you recommend for under $1000.00

Well frankly.
If you want to throw away your Laptop after 6 months then GO ahead!
And don’t expect to play new games in High Settings. (Something like Low Barely).
Laptops are NEVER meant for gaming. They aren’t designed that way. The reason being the Heat Produced, Which can effect not only your Graphic Card but also entire CPU.
Laptops are highly unstable & I definitely don’t recommend you to Buy it if it’s for gaming purposes.

just built your own with 1000 to spend im sure youll make a good one
use ebuyer and put the parts together and you have a pc faster then a store bought one

honestly thats a load of bull. Just pick a decent laptop that you can get currently and it will work for games for the next 2-3 years. Ive had mine, an Asus N51VF that i got 1 year ago and today’s latest games still run fine. Sure i know i wont get Ultra high settings but medium is fine. If you know how to take care of a laptop, the heat produced wont be a problem
