Ok I just got Ubuntu installed two days ago and have no idea how to view/transfer my files from Vista. Anyone know how?
Answer #1
You need to install SaMBa server to enable file sharing from Windows to Linux machines, it can be installed through Yast2
Answer #2
Both OSs are on the same computer, there must be a simpler way.
Answer #3
if you go to /mnt/, there should be a load of folders corisponding to the hard drives of the computers, look through thoes
Answer #4
Where’s /mnt/ located?
Answer #5
at ‘/mnt/’
the linux file system doesnt work the same way that the windows system does.
on linux everything is contained inside 1 logical file tree, with its root at ‘/’
summary: go into the directroy browser (this will vary depending on what distribution you are using) and type in the address box ‘/’ and press enter
you should now see a load of folders (eg etc, bin, usr, sbin, tmp etc), one of these should be ‘mnt’
Answer #6
