upgrading from 8 to 8.1 question

I just installed windows 8 (cracked) its working fine no problems , then i downloaded windows 8.1 (cracked) i was wondering if i can install windows 8.1 on top of the 8 without losing any files, or do i have to format and do a fresh installation ?

You don’t lost anything. Just start the installer while inside Windows 8 and it will let you simply update the OS to 8.1

just for the record i did update to 8.1 via DVD and i DID NOT lose anything
