trying to fix a friends laptop theres a problem though

January 24th, 2020

The debugger error 97 keeps popping up evertime i click something on the desktop ive tried booting in safe mode and when i try to run an antivirus it gives me the same eror then freezes up
I looked on gooogle and it said some stuff about old versions of vista having software problems or something like that has anyone else run into this and had an easy fix for it?
also when i do system restore in safe mode it gives me same error 97

Answer #1
Make a Dos/WinPE/BartPE bootdisk then run a command line anti virus Program, This should fix the problem if it is virus related. Otherwise, to save alot of time searching for an “easy fix” Just backup all important data then reinstall Windows (Format the drive Before installing).
Instead of running into the same Problem in the future Get a Newer OEM Version of vista/Win7 Ultimate.
Hope this helps.
Answer #2
I would do a scan with malwarebytes antimalware and see if that helps!!!
Answer #3
^ i couldnt even run an anti virus program it would just give me the error, it was definalty a virus it came from her downloading one of the fake anti virus programs called windows police pro was a pain to get rid of so i just ended up backing up all the stuff and doing a system recovery
Answer #4
for future cases use the kaspersky or bitdefender rescue cd (they are free). They are boot cd’s.. they will run linux and start the antivirus scanner.. (even download the latest updates..)
