Torrents blocked

August 4th, 2016

Guys, not sure if you can help but as you’re most probably aware most ISP in UK have been blocking torrent websites, including alternative proxy addresses! Literally crippled everything! I have a Sonicwall VPN device laying around that I have never used (as it was given to me, not entirely sure how to use it) is there anyone here knowledgeable to give advice as to whether incorporating it into my network and setting it up would enable any form of anonymity on the internet to get onto certain websites? Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks man, unfortunately none of them work now, I’ve tried all of them and one will work for a few hours then it will just fail. I was hoping to set something up to bypass it so I wouldn’t have to go through loads of steps just to get onto a site! was hoping for click and go!

And you shouldn’t try it either! It’s not made for home use (And it’s certainly NOT the same as a VPN service provider)
It’s made for enterprise security (Hardware firewall, Transparent content filtering/AV scanning of websites accessed, Traffic control (QoS) & Detailed activity logging) the VPN part of it is only to ensure employees would be able to create a *secure* connection to their workplace network when working from home. So again, It will not provide you with any kind of anonymity as it’s not what it’s made for! I suggest you try changing your DNS server’s to Google ones:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
Website blocks are usually done on the DNS level, So this simple step alone might unblock it all!
If it won’t do the trick, Then you got 2 other options, Which are:
1. Signing up with a VPN service (Since torrenting requires an incoming connection, You must signup with one that provides a dynamic IP or remote port forwarding. Otherwise, You’ll get poor speeds!)
2. Buy a Linux VPS and set up Torrentflux on it (A web-based torrent client) or alternatively, Get A seedbox (Which is quite similar)
Clearly, This would work a little differently as you’ll have to first download it to the VPS and then download it to your PC once it’s done (But VPS’s usually have very fast connections, So it’s not really an issue) and also, It’d enable you to seed the torrent very efficiently after it’s done downloading (Without hogging your own connection!) sharing is caring as they say, And if you’re gonna be using private trackers too, It’d come extra handy (As you have to maintain a certain ratio otherwise you get banned)

Another way round blocking i use occasionally is to use the opera browser and enable turbo mode it seems to bypass most isp blocking.
Answer #5
You can use Tor browser
Answer #6
I was also going to suggest using Opera with turbo enabled, it acts like a proxy and seems to work for me on Virgin media.
