July 31st, 2016

hy, i am using a college network witch has the torrent ports blocked(utorrent), and i can;t even download the torrent file anymore. there are other applications such as deluge in with i cand copy a magnet link but i always get connection timeout.
do u have any solutions / sugestions? others than contact administrator

Answer #1
… contact your administrator … there is unfortunately no magic ward you can wave … Other than maybe changing the ports on utorrent, as I dont use torrents, not sure if this works, but if you setup utorrent to use port 80 i.e. , then you can get through …

There are 3 possible solutions to this problem:
1. Enable the use of random ports, upnp and protocol encryption from utorrent’s settings, It just might do the trick!
2. Use a VPN. While there are a number of free providers, You’d wanna go with a paid one for your intended purpose (As you’ll get better speeds that way)
3. Stop using torrents and use file hosts instead.
You could either sign up with a multi-premium leeching service (Such as real-debrid/alldebrid/rpnet) or stick to hosts that are good for free users (Such as Putlocker/Billionuploads/180uploads/Hugefiles) If you gotta stick with torrents, Then i’d say using a VPN is highly recommended (Even if you’re able to unblock it by simply changing some settings on utorrent) because let’s face it, If an anti-piracy group (I.E RIAA/MPAA) will target you and file a complaint to your college, You’d be in big trouble!
Answer #3
or use Tails OS and host it into a virtual machine then try accessing utorrent from it

How will this help exactly?
It won’t bypass network level blocks, And it definitely won’t protect him from the likes of RIAA/MPAA (As the same Internet connection would be used either way!) Using torrents on a college network without a VPN is just asking for trouble!
Edit: I forgot tails is made for anonymous Internet access. Okay, So it’d use TOR, But it’d still be way too slow, So it’s not worth it.
Answer #5
:yes i mentioned that coz of the anonymous point of view…and i totally agree with you that it will be slow but wanted a solution so was just pointing out the possibility
Answer #6
Use a debrid that does torrents. They grab them, you just download as if it’s on a host.
