This one will really TEST you!

Hi all,
Here is my dilemma!
My PC Crashed & Burned about a week a go. I did not have a chance to Backup any of the archived programs that I had stored on a separate partition.
(I usually partition my drives for the reason – that IF the PC\Windows dies, at least I can recover a partition! just as you would access a folder next time round.
BUT! after accidently removing and doing a quick format of that partition, I have been left in a situation of trying to recover this partition and it’s contents by any means! I have performed a number of Recovery attempts with programs such as; Ontrack EasyRecovery11 Professional, Stellar Phoenix Windows
Data Recovery & Acronis Disk Director Suite.

Not quite sure if the methods of configuring each program are correct, I have been a little left in the dark, so to speak!
After each recovery attempt with either program, I have been left with rather a “bewildering” array of non conformant file’s & folders etc, some I can recognise and some I have no clue.
Files that I would like to recover are mostly MP3’s, WAV, MPEG, AVI‘ and MKV’s
NOTE: Drive in question, 1TB Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EARX – Windows 7 x64
Your help would be much appreciated
Regards

I’ve used Diskgettor before on a formatted disk and it worked well..

Apart from that you may have to try changing the recovered file extensions to what you think the file may be, to try and get it to play.
Remember that you must recover to a different disk or partition and if you have written to the disk after it was formatted, that will overwrite the data.

I recommend you use file scavenger:

It always served me well. But as said by , Since data is only recoverable til overwritten, It’s absolutely crucial that you recover the data to a different partition or hard drive! (If you already recovered some of it back to the same partition, Then you made things a lot worse for yourself!)
Generally speaking, You should be able to recover the files with their full structure (Original File~ Folders are not allowed ~ names) unless the MFT (Master File Table) is corrupted, In which case you’ll have no choice but to recover em with random names (But proper extensions) and figure it out for yourself.
