Text message cell phone question…..to a friend.

August 24th, 2013

Guys I sent a text message to someone today, and I noticed when I viewed the message info instead of saying “message delivered” it said “message sent”. So what is the difference and what made it say that. BTW, it was a message to a girl who gave me her phone number, and we are actually friends so I cannot believe she would give me a fake number. Even if it was a fake number wouldn’t it have said message failed? Oh, it was from a verizon “straight talk” phone to a sprint phone.

When it says message delivered, it means that you had sent it to another Verizon customer being one yourself. When it says it was sent, it means just that, sent, because she is not a Verizon customer and Sprint as you said. So while it doesn’t say delivered, she likely got it and either read it or will read it when she checks her text messages unless of course, she gave you a fake number which you doubt anyways.

Do you not have settings on your phone so that you can receive Message Delivery Reports from any number you send to, including landlines ?
I’m with T-Mobile, UK, and have had this option for the past 10 years or so.

Yeah that is what I meant by message info. The text I sent the Message Delivery Report showed the file size, time sent, if any errors, and also Message sent. When I checked other random txt I sent they said message delivered.

Must work differently over there, If I send a message, I receive one saying it has been sent etc. I then get another to say it has been delivered, which could be many hours later if the person has the phone switched off, or is out of area.
