Task Bar

My network and sound icons have disappeared on my taskbar. When I right click on the task bar and click on properties, the network and volume are unclickable to check mark like the rest of the list is.
I am currently using windows vista, and uncheckmarking hide inactive icons doesn’t do anything.

dont know about vista, but in xp go to control panel-sound and audio devices-check box place icon on taskbar – hope this helps but I dont know if this is the same in vista

are the icons grayed out? like when you go into the properties…
